In rural regions of the country, many suffer malnutrition and live in poor accommodation without running water. We have volunteer opportunities which involve house building, laying foundations, building walls and digging wells. The work may not sound too glamorous, but you will feel immense satisfaction from providing urgently needed assistance.

Santo Domingo

If you are looking for a tropical paradise you can't go far wrong with Santo Domingo. Founded in 1496 as a colonial city, Santo Domingo was the springboard for the conquest of the Americas. Described by Christopher Columbus as "the most beautiful land human eyes have ever seen" lush rainforest, crystal clear waterfalls and endless white sandy beaches, all combine in this picture postcard paradise.

For those wanting to do a sport science degree or a PGCE with the hope of becoming a PE teacher, we have opportunities enhancing the children lives through sport, coaching baseball or football. Careers such as community development workers, probation officers and social workers often require experience of community or voluntary work before entry into social or community relations degrees. We have Volunteer projects caring for orphans whose parents have died from substance abuse. This project could be a wonderful learning experience for gap year students looking to start a degree in development studies or social work.
